AFL confirms radical switch in Round 19 fixture

The AFL has released its confirmed fixture for Round 19, with three matches initially scheduled for Round 20 brought forward by a week to accommodate border restrictions.

The three fixtures brought forward by a week are the Brisbane Lions vs Gold Coast Suns, Adelaide vs Hawthorn and Melbourne vs Western Bulldogs matches, all of which will now take place on Saturday, July 24.

Due to the fixture rejig, the matches originally scheduled for Round 19 that have been replaced are the Gold Coast Suns vs Melbourne, Western Bulldogs vs Adelaide and Hawthorn vs Brisbane Lions matches. All three matches will now be played in Round 20 instead.

Round 19 will open up on Friday night with Port Adelaide hosting Collingwood at the Adelaide Oval at 7:10pm AEST.

All start times for Round 19’s fixtures have been confirmed except for the two Sunday matches, Geelong vs Richmond at the MCG and Essendon vs GWS Giants.

Both the start time and the venue are yet to be finalised for the Essendon vs GWS Giants clash, which is an Essendon home game.

St Kilda, who face West Coast in WA this weekend, travelled to Perth on Saturday and have commenced a quarantine period with permissions to train and play in line with WA government protocols.
