‘Worried’ Storm hangs on to edge out Titans

Gold Coast debutant Jayden Campbell looked every inch a first grade player as he donned the Titans number one jumper once worn by his father.

“It was awesome, I enjoyed every minute of it,” he told Fox League.

“All I’ve ever wanted to do is play rugby league, and to represent the Titans, the same as my old man, it’s awesome.

But the 21-year-old revealed nerves got the better of him in the dressing room prior to the match.

“They were ridiculous, I think I spewed about four or five times before the game,” he revealed.

“Justin (Holbrook) told me to back myself, he knows I’m a tough kid and he just wants me to be me.”

On one of Campbell’s first carries with the ball he ran into Melbourne’s Nelson Asofa-Solomona, who put a big hit on the 21-year-old.

“It’s completely different to the levels I’ve played before. I said to myself before the game that I was going to try to stay away from big Nelson, I ran straight into him!” Campbell said.
